Description
VDF – Les Chemins de Bassac – Pleine Lune red is an emblematic artisanal cuvée from the estate, showcasing the organic, committed expertise of this Languedoc vineyard. This blended wine brings together carefully selected Mediterranean grape varieties, including Pinot Noir and Mourvèdre, depending on the vintage and the plots.
The Les Chemins de Bassac estate, certified organic and committed to agroecological practices, grows its vines on clay-limestone and silty soils at a moderate altitude, which encourages a fine balance between concentration, freshness and aromatic expression. The vines are tended with the utmost respect for nature: limited treatments, light ploughing, natural grass cover and hand harvesting.
Winemaking is gentle and minimally interventionist. Each grape variety is vinified separately, with spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts. Macerations are long but not very extractive, in order to preserve the fruit while developing a fine structure. Ageing takes place in stainless-steel vats and sometimes in old barrels for several months, with no sulphur added at bottling, for a lively, expressive wine.
On tasting, Pleine Lune reveals a deep colour with garnet tints. The nose is rich and complex, marked by notes of black fruit (blackberry, plum), candied cherry, sweet spices, pepper and garrigue. On the palate, the attack is supple and the wine shows volume without heaviness, with smooth tannins, lovely freshness and a persistent finish with slightly smoky or balsamic accents.
