Description
TERROIR
In 2005 the “Corbières-Boutenac” Cru was born, bringing together the best of the Corbières terroir. Its soil is clay-limestone with more gravelly mounds of rounded pebbles, not very fertile. The exposure is south/south-west, and the vines are backed by a rocky hill
GRAPE VARIETIES
40% Carignan, 40% Grenache Noir, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre
GROWING METHOD
The grapes are harvested by hand, at optimum ripeness, after tasting the berries. The crop is then destemmed. The winemaking is traditional
AGEING POTENTIAL
6 to 10 years
AGEING
12 months in barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 one year old, 1/3 two years old), then 6 months in tank
TASTING
Silky, intense ruby colour with purple highlights. Nose of candied small wild berries such as blackberries or blueberries. The fruit remains dominant but is supported by oak reminiscent of cedarwood. On the palate, the attack is soft and the candied black fruit gradually gives way to notes of cedar. The tannins are rounded and silky. A wine in which the “southern sun” touch can be felt. Lovely harmony and balance. The finish ends on notes of morello cherry and gingerbread
TASTING ADVICE
Best enjoyed between 16°C and 18°C, with a Provençal-style leg of lamb or a tandoori chicken
