Description
Retour à Obock is an emblematic cuvée from Château Saint-Estève, a family estate based in Thézan-des-Corbières, in the Corbières massif. This exceptional rosé, whose name evokes adventure and travel, reflects a pursuit of refinement and character, in the image of the terroir it comes from.
Origin & grape varieties
Made from a harmonious blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault, this wine draws its personality from sun-drenched clay-limestone soils swept by the tramontane wind. These ideal conditions produce ripe, healthy grapes, concentrated in aromas and freshness.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested in the cool morning hours to preserve all their aromatic purity. After gentle pressing and careful settling, fermentation takes place at low temperature in order to retain the wine’s fruity precision and delicate texture.
Tasting
- Colour: deep pale pink, slightly salmon-hued, brilliantly clear.
- Nose: intense and refined, expressing notes of wild strawberry and fresh raspberry, with a subtle smoky, spicy touch typical of Syrah.
- Palate: the attack is lively and fruity, followed by a silky texture and a fine balance between roundness and tension. The long, slightly saline finish evokes ripe red fruit and an elegant mineral nuance.
Food & wine pairings
This food-friendly rosé gracefully accompanies:
- Grilled fish, shellfish and Mediterranean dishes;
- White meats or summer grills;
- Or simply a sunny aperitif with friends.
Serving & ageing
Serve chilled, at around 8 to 10 °C, to reveal its full aromatic complexity. Although made to be enjoyed young, it will keep for 2 to 3 years without losing its brilliance.
A wine of pleasure and character, Retour à Obock perfectly illustrates the savoir-faire of Château Saint-Estève: a terroir rosé, expressive, elegant and steeped in sunshine.
