Description
The cuvée Hector et Juliette is made from a large majority of Syrah complemented by a little Grenache. The old vines are around 60 years old and face due south on clay and limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates, then macerated as whole bunches for at least 2 weeks with daily pump-overs and rack-and-returns. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, one third of them new. The cuvée “Hector et Juliette” from domaine Sainte-Marie des Crozes is in the style of Corbières wines: sunny wines with depth while retaining a certain freshness. The estate has been farmed organically since 2011 and biodynamically since 2019, and is run by Christelle Alias.
