Description
The Chiroubles “La Fontanelle” from Domaine Ruet is a superb expression of the highest appellation in the Beaujolais, nestled between 300 and 450 metres. The vines, 30 to 50 years old, are rooted in light, free-draining granite soils, which give the wine its characteristic finesse and elegance.
Made from 100% Gamay noir à jus blanc, this wine is hand-harvested and undergoes traditional whole-bunch semi-carbonic maceration, typical of Beaujolais winemaking. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing in concrete or stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit and the identity of the terroir.
To the eye, the colour is bright ruby with violet tints. The nose, expressive and floral, offers notes of peony, violet and fresh red fruit (cherry, raspberry, redcurrant). On the palate, the attack is supple, the texture light and velvety, carried by lively, thirst-quenching acidity, with a fresh, mineral finish.
With its easy-drinking, airy profile, this wine is ideal enjoyed young and lightly chilled. It pairs with fine charcuterie, grilled white meats or a fresh goat’s cheese.
