Description
The Ardèche IGP – Jean-François Jacouton – Syrah à 2 Pas is a carefully crafted red wine that perfectly illustrates the expression of the Syrah grape in the Ardèche terroir. From sustainably farmed vines, this wine benefits from the region’s generous sunshine, allowing the grapes to ripen in ideal conditions while retaining lovely freshness. The vines are planted on varied soils, mainly schist and rounded pebbles, which give the wine fine minerality and a supple texture.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous sorting to keep only the best. Once picked, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, preserving the freshness and fruity aromas of the grape variety. Vinification is traditional, with a cold pre-fermentation maceration to extract all the aromatic richness. The wine is then aged in stainless steel vats to preserve its purity and liveliness.
On tasting, Syrah à 2 Pas stands out for its deep red colour and intense aromas of ripe red fruit, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by light spicy, peppery notes characteristic of the Syrah grape. On the palate, the wine offers a supple attack and is round, with fine tannins and a balanced structure. The finish is fresh and pleasant, with medium length giving way to a lovely fruity persistence.
This wine is ideal with grilled meat, beef tartare, charcuterie boards or pasta in sauce. Although intended to be enjoyed young, it can also be kept for a few years to gain in complexity.
