Description
The En Grégoire 2022 cuvée is a pure, refined expression of Pinot Noir, grown biodynamically on a high-lying terroir in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, at around 350 metres above sea level. The south-facing clay-limestone soils allow the grapes to ripen excellently while preserving the natural freshness and acidity essential to the wine’s balance.
The vines of En Grégoire are tended with complete respect for natural cycles, using biodynamic practices that encourage biodiversity and soil health. The grapes are harvested by hand at perfect ripeness to guarantee optimal quality and a pure expression of the terroir. Yields are deliberately limited, giving ideal concentration and intense aromas.
In the cellar, Emmanuel Giboulot follows a respectful, natural approach to winemaking. The grapes are destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with no added sulphur or oenological products. After a gentle maceration, the wine is aged for 12 months in used oak barrels to avoid any dominant oakiness and let the terroir express itself fully.
The result is an elegant, fruity red wine with subtle aromas of cherry, raspberry, violet and delicate spices, with touches of undergrowth and a light note of liquorice. On the palate, the attack is supple, with fine, silky tannins supported by lively acidity that gives the wine lovely freshness. The finish is long and spicy, with a light mineral note that reinforces the expression of the terroir.
The Hautes Côtes de Nuits – En Grégoire 2022 is a wine that is both approachable and complex, to drink now or to keep in the cellar for 5 to 8 years to develop an even deeper and more refined aromatic palette.
Ideal with grilled meats, roast poultry or soft cheeses, this Pinot Noir is at home on any occasion that calls for an elegant, expressive wine.
