Viré Clessé AOP – Domaine du Mont Epin – white

16,50 €

Aromas of nuts take pride of place in this Viré-Clessé Breillonde. They mingle with subtler iodine touches that bring a delicately saline character, very pleasant on tasting. A lovely balance between minerality and roundness, all wrapped in oaky nuances.

Description

Domaine du Mont Épin is run by brothers Richard and Stéphane Martin, in Davayé, in the Mâconnais. Heirs to a family story that began in 1969, they farm some fifteen hectares planted exclusively with Chardonnay, including around 5 hectares in Viré-Clessé. The estate has been certified organic since the 2019 vintage.

Viré-Clessé is one of the most renowned appellations of the Mâconnais, on clay-limestone soils that produce whites that are both generous and taut.

Aromas of nuts dominate, joined by iodine touches that bring a very pleasant salinity. The palate strikes a lovely balance between minerality and roundness, wrapped in oaky nuances.

Technical sheet:
• 100% Chardonnay
• Organic farming
• ABV: 13%
• Serving temperature: 10–12 °C
