Description
Côtes du Rhône AOP – Domaine Ginies – “Les n°7” Red is a cuvée that embodies the generosity and typicity of the great classics of the southern Rhône Valley. Made from a traditional blend dominated by Grenache, complemented by Syrah and a touch of Cinsault, this cuvée comes from vines grown on clay-limestone soils and rounded pebbles, enjoying optimal sunshine and a Mediterranean climate ideal for ripening the grapes.
The grapes are picked at full ripeness, generally by hand to preserve the quality of the berries. Winemaking in concrete or stainless steel tanks is preferred, with long macerations of 15 to 20 days to extract as much colour, aroma and tannin as possible. Ageing takes place mainly in tank to keep all the freshness and directness of the fruit, with no excess oak or make-up.
On tasting, “Les n°7” reveals a deep ruby red colour, brilliant. The nose is open and intense, with notes of black cherry, plum and sweet spice (pepper, liquorice) and a hint of garrigue. On the palate, the attack is supple, the structure well balanced and the tannins smooth. The finish is fresh and fruity, with lovely aromatic persistence.
