Description
Made from Muscat à petits grains, a noble, aromatic grape variety, Château Saint-Estève’s Muscat d’Antan is a refined and generous interpretation of this great southern classic. The estate, located in Thézan-des-Corbières, grows its vines in the hot, sunny climate of the Languedoc, where sea breezes keep the grapes fresh and balanced.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness in order to preserve all the aromatic richness of the Muscat. Precise, low-temperature winemaking retains the fruity, floral profile of the grape variety. The wine, classified as Vin de France, is not fortified: here it expresses a natural sweetness and a smooth texture, while keeping an invigorating tension that avoids any heaviness.
Tasting
- Colour: brilliant pale yellow with golden tints.
- Nose: expressive and refined, combining white flowers, rose, crunchy grape, candied citrus and a touch of honey.
- Palate: the attack is supple and caressing; the mid-palate reveals an indulgent unctuousness, supported by a balancing freshness. Aromas of exotic fruit and orange zest extend a light-as-air finish.
