Description
Founded by Jean-Claude Courtault in 1984, the Courtault & Michelet estates are now run by his daughter Stéphanie and her husband Vincent Michelet, who took over the whole business in 2019. Their vines, around 30 hectares, sit at the top of the Lignorelles hill, north-west of Chablis. The family practises sustainable viticulture and takes part in the Dephy Écophyto network.
The wines are vinified mainly in stainless steel tanks, with long ageing, to preserve the freshness and the expression of the Kimmeridgian soils typical of Chablis.
The nose is typical of the appellation: mineral, with notes of ripe fruit and bergamot. The attack is powerful; the wine is structured and generous, and the minerality accompanies the ripe fruit right through to the finish.
