Description
Brouilly AOP – Domaine Ruet – Vieilles Vignes 2015 is an exceptional red wine that embodies all the richness and finesse of the Brouilly appellation, the southernmost of the Côtes de Brouilly, in the heart of the Beaujolais. This 2015 vintage comes from old vines grown on granite and schist terroirs, which give the wine remarkable minerality and depth. The vines, 50 to 100 years old, produce very low yields, concentrating the aromas and flavours.
The grape variety used is Gamay, the emblematic grape of the Beaujolais, which here expresses all its typicity with great elegance. The vines are farmed using traditional methods, with a sustainable approach to cultivation to respect the environment and guarantee the quality of the grapes. The harvest is by hand and the bunches are carefully sorted before vinification.
The vinification of this Brouilly uses carbonic maceration, a traditional method that keeps the fruit aromas fresh and makes the wine more approachable. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with strict temperature control to favour a pure expression of the fruit. After fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels to give it extra complexity while retaining its freshness and liveliness.
Visually, this Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2015 shows a deep ruby red colour with a brilliant sheen. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe red fruit, mainly cherry, raspberry and blackberry, with discreet spicy touches of pepper and liquorice, typical of this terroir. On the palate, the attack is clean and round, with soft, silky tannins that bring structure and length. The wine is well balanced, with lovely freshness supporting the whole, and a long, fruity, slightly spicy finish.
This Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2015 can be enjoyed now, but it also has great ageing potential (5 to 10 years), during which it will continue to gain complexity and reveal new nuances.
Food and wine pairings: This wine pairs perfectly with red meat, roasts, dishes in sauce such as bœuf bourguignon, matured cheeses, or even fine charcuterie. It can also accompany lighter dishes such as roast duck or a mushroom tart.
