Description

The house’s own 18-hectare vineyard is located on the finest slopes in Champagne.
In Chouilly, one of the 6 villages classified as Grand Cru on the Côte des Blancs.
In Bisseuil, a terroir classified as Premier Cru on the Montagne de Reims. Supplies from partner growers in the Epernay area complete the range of crus that go into AR Lenoble Champagnes.

Based on the principle that good wine starts with good grapes, particular
importance is given to work in the vineyard. In the cold, damp climate that comes with Champagne’s very northerly location,
a sustainable approach that encourages biodiversity and soil life is favoured.

The vines are grassed over to reduce yields, the soils are scratched to push the roots deep down into the chalk,
and the earth is aerated to develop the nutrients needed for the bunches to grow perfectly.

In 2012, the AR Lenoble vineyard obtained HVE (High Environmental Value) certification.
Since then, it has been home to the estate’s beehives, a sign of a healthy environment.

The story begins in 1870
During the war, Joseph Graser fled the Germans and left Alsace, his native region, to reach Epernay in Champagne on foot, where his wife Alice came from. He died suddenly, in the middle of the street, at the age of 44. His son, Armand-Raphaël, dreamed of becoming a doctor. But having become head of the family too early, he had to shoulder its responsibilities, and so he built up a wine brokerage business.

In 1920, Armand-Raphaël expanded this business and began producing Champagne Graser, which he soon renamed “AR Lenoble”. With the armistice still recent, and his German-sounding name not seeming a good idea, he created the “AR Lenoble” brand: “AR” for his initials and “Lenoble” as a tribute to the nobility of the wines of Champagne.

Four generations would then follow one another, each upholding strong values with commitment and dedication.

Anne and Antoine Malassagne, brother and sister, took over the family house. Young and keen to innovate in this traditional world, they have never stopped striving to improve the quality of their Champagnes. Since 2010, a reserve in cork-stoppered magnums has gradually been built up in the AR Lenoble cellars to contribute to future blends. And so, in 2014, the fruit of this long-term work appeared under the name “MAG”.
