Description
Sakura 2022 – Domaine Duseigneur is a Vin de France cuvée that beautifully illustrates the estate’s sensitive and committed approach, with a red wine full of finesse, purity and freshness. Its name, Sakura, evokes the Japanese cherry blossom, a symbol of delicacy, transience and renewal — qualities found in full in this refined interpretation of Syrah.
From plots farmed biodynamically, on light, predominantly sandy and stony soils, the vineyard enjoys excellent exposure, encouraging a slow, balanced ripening of the grapes. The winegrowing fully respects the environment: no chemical inputs, natural plant-based treatments, moderate ploughing and controlled yields to ensure fine concentration without heaviness.
The 2022 harvest is picked by hand at optimal ripeness, then carefully sorted. The vinification, deliberately gentle and natural, takes place without commercial yeasts, without added sulphites or oenological additives. The macerations are short to preserve the brightness of the fruit, and the wine is aged exclusively in vats, on fine lees, for a few months. This choice preserves the aromatic integrity and liveliness of the wine, with no oaky influence.
On tasting, Sakura 2022 shows a light ruby colour, clear and bright. The nose is airy and precise, carried by aromas of fresh cherry, violet, white pepper and a touch of peony. On the palate, the texture is fluid and juicy, with velvety tannins and a saline, thirst-quenching finish. The whole charms with its drinkability, its balance and its lightness full of character, ideal for a modern, elegant approach to red wine.
