Description

Amistat, meaning “friendship” in Gascon, is an emblematic cuvée from Domaine de Montesquiou, certified organic and run by brothers Fabrice and Sébastien Montesquiou in Monein, in the heart of the Jurançon AOP.

This sweet wine comes from a carefully crafted blend of Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng, hand-harvested when overripe to capture the natural concentration of sugars while preserving freshness. The typical terroir of the region, made up of Jurançonnais puddingstone (sediments of pebbles and clay), gives this cuvée a remarkable mineral tension that perfectly balances its natural sweetness.

The winemaking is precise and minimally interventionist: slow, gentle pressing, cold settling, then low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel vats. Ageing continues on fine lees for several months to enrich the wine's texture without altering its aromatic purity.

On tasting, Amistat 2023 shows a bright pale gold colour. The nose opens on intense notes of yellow peach, roasted apricot and passion fruit, accompanied by white flowers, gentle spices and a honeyed touch. On the palate, the attack is smooth yet carried by a bracing acidity, the signature of Manseng, which gives the wine a vibrant balance and a saline, persistent finish.
