Islay Rum – Jean Boyer – Barrel aged

58,50 €

Scotland’s cool maritime climate means that this rum matures very differently from those of the tropics. The Barrel Aged has been carefully matured in oak casks previously used to mature Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, creating a delicious smoky flavour combined with vanilla and coastal salinity.

Tasting:

Nose: Light smoke, green bananas with caramel and leather.

Palate: Soft vanilla with sea-salted caramels.

A hint of smoke and tropical fruit. A slightly medicinal side with coastal salinity; complex.

Finish: full and long on the palate, reminiscent of

A whisky for laying down.

Description

In January 2022, the Vintage Malt Whisky Company decided to “twist” tradition by setting up a rum distillery in the holy of holies of Scotch: Islay.

Using the premises of a former lemonade factory and drawing on the experience of a young distiller, Ben Inglis, the Islay Rum project was launched.

The custom-made still allows triple distillation, producing a rum that has already won multiple awards.
