Description

Côtes du Rhône Villages AOP – Domaine Duseigneur – Odyssée is an emblematic cuvée that embodies the estate’s vision: that of a wine of character, from a living terroir, farmed biodynamically to reveal the full natural expression of the soil and climate. Located on clay-limestone and sandy hillsides typical of the right bank of the Rhône, the vineyard enjoys generous sunshine and the beneficial influence of the Mistral, which encourages concentration and freshness.

The blend showcases the flagship grape varieties of the appellation — mainly Grenache, accompanied by Syrah and sometimes a touch of Mourvèdre, depending on the vintage. The grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous sorting of the bunches to guarantee healthy, ripe fruit. The grapes are then vinified in concrete or stainless steel vats with long macerations (20 to 30 days), allowing a gradual extraction of tannins, aromas and colour while preserving the elegance of the fruit.

Ageing, carried out in vats and in barrels that have held several wines, lasts 10 to 12 months depending on the vintage. It brings structure and complexity while respecting the purity of the fruit. No oenological additives are used, except for low doses of sulphur at bottling, to guarantee the most faithful expression of the terroir.

In the glass, Odyssée stands out with its deep ruby colour with purple glints. The nose is intense and complex, combining aromas of black fruit (blackberry, blackcurrant) and candied cherry, with touches of pepper, garrigue and a slight smoky note. On the palate, the attack is supple, with a lovely tannic structure, smooth and balanced by well-defined freshness. The wine develops a generous and refined aromatic palette, carried by a fleshy texture and a persistent finish marked by sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs.
