Description
Domaine d’YF presents an emblematic cuvée of the Coteaux du Lyonnais, made from Gamay noir à jus blanc, the flagship grape of the appellation. Set on the granite and sandy-clay slopes typical of the region, the estate farms its vines organically, constantly seeking balance between terroir, climate and plant.
The 2024 vintage enjoyed ideal weather for Gamay: a mild spring, even flowering and a summer alternating moderate heat with cool nights, allowing slow ripening, good concentration and preserved acidity. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, then rigorously sorted.
In the cellar, the winemaking follows a natural, minimally interventionist approach. Some of the bunches are vinified by semi-carbonic maceration, in the Beaujolais tradition, to draw out vibrant fruit and smooth tannins. The rest are destemmed and vinified conventionally to add structure. Fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts, with no added oenological inputs. Ageing takes place in concrete or stainless steel tanks for several months to preserve the freshness and authenticity of the fruit. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, with minimal use of sulphur at bottling.
The Coteaux du Lyonnais Rouge 2024 from Domaine d’YF charms with its pure, direct aromatic expression: fresh red fruit (cherry, raspberry, redcurrant), floral notes (peony, violet) and a spicy hint on the finish. On the palate, the attack is supple, the balance clean, the tannins fine and the finish persistent and juicy, revealing a wine that is delicious, easy to drink and truly of its terroir.
Perfect served lightly chilled, this versatile red pairs with charcuterie boards, roast poultry, plant-based cooking or traditional Lyonnaise dishes.
