Description
Saint-Joseph AOP – La Maison white from Rodolphe Duculty is a cuvée made from Roussanne and Marsanne, emblematic grape varieties of the northern Rhône Valley, grown on carefully selected plots on the granite slopes of the appellation. The terroir, made up of granite and schist soils, encourages a slow ripening of the grapes, allowing a pure, precise expression of the variety while preserving freshness and minerality.
The sustainable viticulture practised by Rodolphe Duculty translates into environmentally friendly practices and meticulous work plot by plot. Yields are limited to ensure the concentration and quality of the grapes. The harvest, carried out by hand, allows the bunches to be picked at full ripeness, ensuring an optimal balance between acidity and sweetness.
The vinification of La Maison white begins with direct pressing of the grapes, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatic freshness and purity of fruit. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for around 8 to 10 months, to maintain its liveliness while encouraging a harmonious integration of the aromas. No oak is used in the ageing, allowing the wine to retain the mineral, fruity expression typical of Marsanne.
On tasting, La Maison white shows a pale gold colour, bright and clear. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe white fruit (pear, apple), floral notes of white flowers (acacia, lime blossom), and a subtle touch of minerality reminiscent of rock and flint. On the palate, the wine offers a fresh, clean attack, followed by an ample, round mid-palate, with lovely ripeness of fruit, delicate peach flavours and a persistent mineral touch. The acidity perfectly balances the wine’s richness, and the finish is long and elegant, leaving a lovely sensation of freshness.
This Saint-Joseph La Maison white is a wine that pairs perfectly with delicate dishes, such as seafood, grilled fish, langoustine salads, or pressed cheeses. It can be enjoyed young to appreciate its liveliness, but it also has an ageing potential of 3 to 5 years.
