Description
The Puligny-Montrachet AOP 2022 – “Les Petits Grands Champs” from Domaine Boussey embodies all the nobility and precision of the great whites of the Côte de Beaune. From an ideally exposed plot in the heart of the appellation, this Chardonnay expresses the purity of its limestone terroir and the excellence of family craftsmanship handed down over several generations.
The vines, several decades old, are farmed with great rigour, respecting the environment and the plant’s natural rhythm. The grapes are picked by hand at full ripeness to preserve all the freshness and aromatic intensity of the variety.
The winemaking is careful and minimally interventionist: after a slow, gentle pressing, the juice ferments naturally in French oak barrels, a moderate proportion of which are new (around 25%), subtly highlighting the aromas without dominating them. Ageing continues for 12 months on fine lees, bringing richness, complexity and elegance to the cuvée.
On tasting, the colour is pale and bright, with golden glints. The nose, fine and expressive, suggests notes of white flowers, yellow-fleshed fruit (peach, pear) and fresh almond, with a subtly buttery and vanilla touch. On the palate, the attack is straight, balanced by lovely mineral tension. The wine stretches out with breadth and refinement, revealing a silky texture and lasting length, marked by the salinity typical of great Puligny.
This wine is best enjoyed at 12°C, alongside refined dishes: fine fish, shellfish, poultry in a creamy sauce, or even hard cooked-curd cheeses. A white for fine dining, able to age for several years in the cellar to develop its full complexity.
