Description
The Ladoix AOP “Les Vris” red from Domaine Chapelle is a wine that embodies the typicity and elegance of the Côte de Beaune terroirs. Made from Pinot Noir, the region’s emblematic grape variety, it comes from the Les Vris plot, an exceptional climat on the slopes of the village of Ladoix. The soils of this plot are mainly limestone, a perfect terroir for growing Pinot Noir, producing balanced grapes that are both fresh and concentrated.
The vines, grown organically, receive particular care throughout their growing cycle. The soil is worked in an environmentally friendly way, with controlled yields to favour grape quality. The grapes are harvested by hand at full ripeness, allowing a rigorous selection of the healthiest, finest bunches.
Winemaking is carried out with complete respect for the fruit, using traditional methods that allow the full potential of the terroir to be expressed. After partial destemming of the grapes, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for a gentle extraction of the aromas. The wine is aged in oak barrels (including a proportion of new barrels) for around 12 months. This process allows the wine to build structure while delicately integrating the oaky notes for fine complexity.
The Ladoix “Les Vris” reveals a deep, bright ruby colour, with highlights that herald the wine’s richness. The nose is complex, blending aromas of ripe red fruit (cherry, raspberry), floral notes of violet and peony, and subtle hints of sweet spices and damp earth, typical of limestone terroirs. On the palate, the attack is fresh and fruity, followed by a silky, well-structured texture. The fine, well-integrated tannins give the wine great elegance, while lovely acidity supports a long, lingering finish marked by notes of red fruit and a touch of minerality.
This Ladoix AOP “Les Vris” red is a wine that stands out for its freshness and its perfect balance between fruit, minerality and tannic structure. It can be enjoyed now to make the most of its youth and liveliness, but it also has excellent ageing potential. In the cellar, it will improve for 5 to 8 years, developing more complex aromas of forest floor and truffle.
This wine is an excellent match for refined dishes such as grilled red meats, dishes in sauce made with game, or mature cheeses. Its finesse and elegance also make it a perfect wine to enjoy on its own, as an aperitif or over the course of a fine evening.
