Description

Grignan-les-Adhémar AOP – Domaine Bonetto Fabrol – Vieilles Vignes is a wine of great richness and fine complexity, made from old vines carefully tended in keeping with winegrowing traditions. The estate enjoys the generous sunshine of the Drôme provençale, where the clay-limestone terroir allows quality wines to be made that are both powerful and refined.

The 2023 vintage is based on a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, three emblematic grape varieties of the Rhône Valley, planted on plots of vines more than 30 years old. These vines, largely bush-trained (a traditional pruning method), are grown without pesticides or herbicides, following a sustainable approach. The sunny exposure and the diversity of the soils give this wine great complexity and ageing potential.

The harvest is done by hand, with careful sorting of the grapes. The berries are then crushed and macerated in stainless steel tanks for around twenty days, allowing optimal extraction of aromas and colour while preserving the finesse of the tannins. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by maturation in stainless steel tanks to retain the freshness and purity of the fruit.

The result is a wine with a deep red colour and purple glints. The nose is complex, dominated by aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), with spicy touches (black pepper, liquorice) and subtle floral notes (violet, rose). This aromatic bouquet also opens onto hints of undergrowth and a light minerality, typical of the terroirs of the Rhône Valley.

On the palate, the attack is supple and fruity, followed by a more structured and harmonious development, with fine, velvety tannins that bring a pleasant texture. The finish is long, marked by lovely freshness and a light spicy touch that prolongs the pleasure. The whole is well balanced, with a subtle minerality that gives this wine great elegance.

Food & wine pairings: This wine pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, dishes in sauce, mature cheeses (such as Saint-Nectaire or Comté), or Mediterranean dishes based on vegetables and aromatic herbs.
