Description
This Beaujolais-Villages white from Domaine Ruet embodies the elegance and freshness that Chardonnay can offer on the granite and clay-limestone terroirs of the Beaujolais hillsides. Farmed using integrated farming methods, the vines are carefully tended to encourage optimal ripeness while preserving the natural expression of the soil.
The grapes are harvested by hand at full ripeness, then gently pressed as whole bunches. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, in stainless steel vats, to preserve the aromatic purity of the grape variety. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months, without oak, so that it keeps all its brightness and tension.
In the glass, this white shows a bright pale yellow colour with golden glints. The nose opens on floral aromas (hawthorn, acacia), fresh citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and white peach. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise, the mid-palate delicate and fruity, and the taut, mineral finish shows lovely persistence.
This Beaujolais-Villages white is a versatile wine, perfect as an aperitif, but also with grilled fish, a warm goat’s cheese salad or chicken in a cream sauce.
